First Purple File

[The writing is full of flourishes and swirls, making it look in some places elegant and in some overdone and ridiculous.]

So I will write on this and then people will write back and we will all be good friends, no? Somehow, I do not think that is the way the universe works.

We are all in a tree. We are tree people. This is stupid. But, if there is a place with wine, then I will not mind the stupid so much, hm? And we are not in a tree right now, but we are. I do not like paradoxes.

So. My friends. My soon-to-be dear, good friends. I am calling myself Ambassador. It is a stupid name, but I have never named myself before. There is a first time for everything, I believe it is said. So let us have a drink to firsts, and write on paper that writes back.

Well then. Greetings, Ambassador. [He's vaguely wondering if this is Boss making some stunt for attention, but the phrasing isn't as cringe-inducing, and it does seem like the writer is much more intelligent.]

We're usually in and around a tree. Just now we're under it, I think, even if it looks like a normal sky up above.

Wine I'm not sure of, but some of the hotels have liquor cabinets. Or you can trade with someone; there's a bar up top and I'd be surprised if no one had taken some of the stock down with them.

I'm Rogue .[Just the lightest dot after the E. Sometimes he does catch himself in time.]

Oh good. There are more names that are nouns. I will not feel entirely so stupid with this. Not that I am saying you are stupid, my good person.

Underneath? That is something my Greeter did not mention.

I will look for liquor cabinets. Do you know which of the hotels? I have seen a couple and I do not want to wander long. Walking, it is not my favorite occupation.

Nothing wrong with one like yours, Ambassador. [Even if it does make him instantly wary.] Were you a diplomat, then?

Ah, well, there are five levels in Edensphere. You can see that on your map. Topmost is the branches, where the houses are. Under that are the floating islands. Under that is here, the Wilderness, and beneath that are the fourth floor and the Scavenger's Yard.

The one you were born in has probably been cleaned out by now. Look for any of the fancier ones. They'll likely be around the resident restaurant or in the suites.

[There's a pause as he pulls out his map.]

Underneath. Yes, now I see it. I am not going to try to guess at how this works.

I would like to say that I was. I was called Ambassador. But I do not remember actually doing anything that was Ambassador-like, so I am not altogether certain. And there is no need for such occupations here, I have been told, so I will not get practice to see if I was.

Fancy. Giant fish, they are fancy. I will look in there.

No official need to represent your people and their interests, no, but whenever two people interact, a little diplomacy is important. And the sole member of a group does represent the whole of that group; your actions will reflect on them, and if any of your people show up people will treat them in ways influenced by you.

[identity profile] proudambassador.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be most idiotic to judge a whole group based on one person. And why would I be alone? Just because I have not met any yet means nothing. I have only met my Greeter.

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be. But people do it all the time.

True. A name like that, I'd assumed... but, true. Good luck finding them. Here, sometimes people who were very close never know it until too late.

[identity profile] proudambassador.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Then they are idiots.

You do know the phrase? Assume? It is one of those quirky little things. When you assume, you make an ass out of 'u' and of me. It only works when written. Otherwise it is confusing because it does not seem to make sense. So there, I have found a good side to writing. Little puns.

What do you mean by "too late?"

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Cute. And the point's taken.

People disappear here. We don't know why.

[identity profile] proudambassador.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That is not comforting. We do not know why we appear, we do not know why we go.
